Day 1
Arrive to Houston
Discover Houston, the largest city in Texas. Oil, cotton and real estate are the backbone of Houston, a proud and wealthy metropolis situated on a vast plain just 50 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico. Littered with glittering skyscrapers and endowed with many great galleries, museums and performing arts centers, Houston is as much a cultural center as an economic one. Day 2
Visit Johnson Space Center Camp Program (Optional)
Design, Build, & Launch a Rocket – Teams will engineer a rocket of their own design by deciding which rocket parts are needed and what they can afford given their project budget. Rockets will be launched at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (weather permitting).Train like astronauts in this exciting session! You will participate in underwater training exercises using SCUBA gear in a local indoor pool.(Meals: B, D)
Day 3
Visit Johnson Space Center Camp Program (Optional)
Engineer a Rover Lander – Given a set of parameters and tasks each rover must accomplish on Mars, students must decide how to create a robotic rover. They start with a price list for supplies and given varying criteria, students design, build and test their rover. Teams put their rovers to the test on a Martian landscape attempting to locate and retrieve Martian rocks.(Meals: B, D)
Day 4
Visit Johnson Space Center Camp Program (Optional)
NASA Tours – Several tours are given at Johnson Space Center, highlighting both Mars and project related themes. See historic Mission Control Centers and the Space Station Mock-up Facility, with its life-sized models of the International Space Station. Visit the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory where astronauts train for Extravehicular (Meals: B, D)
Day 5
Visit Johnson Space Center Camp Program (Optional)
Talk to NASA Experts – Hear presentations by NASA personnel who are really making space exploration happen. Topics may include: Space Exploration, Rocket Propulsion, Mission Control, the International Space Station, Space Shuttle, Robotics, Space Suit Design or Space Physiology.(Meals: B, D)
Day 6
Visit Johnson Space Center Camp Program (Optional)- Washington D.C.
Lofting Into Space – Given information about specific topics, all groups must present the necessary information to accomplish their rocket, rover, landing and lofting projects. Since teams do not have the same information, communication is critical! Afterwards fly to Washington D.C., capital of the United States of America and a Guide to the Historic Neighborhoods and Monuments. Check into the hotel upon arrival. (Meals: B, D)
Day 7
Washington – New York
After breakfast, explore the capital city of US. See the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Supreme Court, the Capitol Building, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Union Station, World War II Memorial Building, Pentagon building and Washington Monument. Later depart to the “Big Apple,” the “City That Never Sleeps”—New York is a city of superlatives: America’s biggest; its most exciting; its business and cultural capitals; the nation’s trendsetter. Check-into the hotel upon arrival.(Meals: B, D)
Day 8
New York
After breakfast, proceed for a City tour of New York. The sightseeing will include USA’s famous landmark “Statue of Liberty”. We will take a ferry ride to Liberty Island for a spectacular view of the New York City Skyline. Next we experience the view of a lifetime from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building. Later in the day we will see Rockefeller Center, Wall Street, Ground Zero and Central Park, Times Square, United Nations and Trump Tower. Later enjoy dinner. (Meals: B, D)
Day 9
Departure from New York
After breakfast, proceed to the airport to board the flight for your next destination. (Meals: B)
